Erica Mather has been a teacher all her adult life. Beginning teaching sailing and windsurfing as a teenager, in her early twenties she took up private piano instruction, jazz band direction, and classroom lecturing on music. The principles of compassion and of learning to realize one’s True Self have always underpinned her teachings, and in yoga she found a connection with an ancient and deep practice tailored to deliver the healing and transformation she sought bring into the lives of her students while teaching other topics.
A lifelong athlete, Erica found Forrest Yoga at the adult onset of migraine headaches. With exercise and athletics no longer meeting her needs, she took up yoga to help treat the headaches and discovered not only a rich physical practice, but also safe place for healing on emotional and spiritual levels. She is passionate about sharing all aspects of yoga with her students and in helping all people find the path to embodying spirit. Erica has completed Ana Forrest’s Foundational Training, holds a Masters Degree in Ethnomusicology from Columbia University, as well as a teaching certificate and undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
