Teacher and Practitioner Bios

Ilene Richman has been practicing and advocating Fertility Awareness (FA) since 1994. In 2001, Ilene became the director of the Fertility Awareness Center, a non-profit organization (501c3 in process) that offers workshops in FA to women and couples in the New York area. These workshops teach people how to use FA for contraception or to achieve pregnancy. Fertility Awareness also enables women to gain insight into their gynecological and overall well-being, to become more understanding of their bodies and their cycles, and to be more empowered around their sexuality. Ilene teaches secular, sympto-thermal FA, meaning that all 3 Fertility Signals are taught, in a non-religious context. She employs a mind/body approach to fertility that takes into account the profound effects that stress and emotions can have on a woman’s health. Her teaching approach is frank, empowering, and fun.

Ilene is also the coordinator of the Fertility Awareness Network, an international organization which provides information to the public and the media about FA and which facilitates communication between Fertility Awareness professionals.

Ilene has done proofreading and editing for several excellent books, including The Garden of Fertility and Our Bodies, Ourselves.
